US pension funds want more control of Disney

Four of the largest US public pension funds are pushing for the right to allow shareholders to nominate directors to Walt Disney's board of directors.

The funds, including Calpers, the largest US pension fund with $166bn (€134bn) in assets, and the New York State Common Retirement Fund, jointly filed a proposal with the US Securities and Exchange Commission that seeks to have the issue put to a vote at Disney's 2005 annual meeting.
