Van der Moolen warns of dismal first quarter

Van der Moolen, the Dutch equities trader, expects disappointing first-quarter results after lower trading volumes contributed to a "substantial decline" in net income for January and February.

Net income in the first two months of this year amounted to €3m ($3.3m), far lower than the average income levels achieved in 2002.
