Vanguard reopens $36bn-plus dividend growth fund to new investors

A concern when a fund gets too big is that it can curtail the manager’s flexibility in picking stocks

The $36.6bn Vanguard Dividend Growth Fund, which has had consistently strong performance, is reopening to new investors.

The fund had been operating under a soft close, meaning that only existing fund shareholders could invest. It has been closed to new investors since July of 2016, when its assets totaled about $30bn.
