Venezuela’s central bank has sued the Bank of England over access to €930m in Venezuelan-owned gold reserves to combat coronavirus as the country’s crumbling healthcare system struggles to fight the pandemic.

In court documents seen by Financial News, the Banco Central de Venezuela said that the Bank of England is “depriving” it of its gold reserves “at a time of national and global emergency.”
