Venture capital poised for comeback

Early-stage investment funds fell out of favour following the dotcom crash but demand is rising

European venture capital is still nursing bruises from the bursting of the dotcom bubble more than a decade ago. But some in the industry think this is about to change.

The success of US venture-backed social networking sites Facebook, LinkedIn and music streaming service Spotify has done little to lift the European industry where a lack of capital has left it trailing the US. New funds raised have more than halved in two years.
