(The Wall Street Journal) -- Russian mobile operator Vimpel Communications is in talks to buy another Russian company, Golden Telecom, for about $4.2bn (€2.9bn), amid signs that tension between their feuding shareholders is easing.
The companies, in which Russia's Alfa Group and Norway's Telenor own large stakes, said they were in talks on the potential acquisition of fixed-line telecommunications company Golden Telecom by VimpelCom for $105 a share, a 3.5% premium to Friday's closing price.
