Virgin Media delays sale over debt threat

Virgin Media, the television arm of Richard Branson's Virgin conglomerate, has extended the offer period to give prospective buyers the chance to table bids in a more stable debt market environment.

Although no formal deadline to submit offers had been set, the company this morning announced the postponement of the process to allow the turbulent debt markets, upon which buyout firms rely for part of their financing, to settle.
