Virginia Holmes, the former chief executive of Axa Investment Managers in the UK, has taken over as chairman of USS Investment Management as part of a board reshuffle at the Universities Superannuation Scheme.

Holmes took on the role of chairman on September 1 after the investment arm's previous chairman, Roy Gillson, resigned due to illness, a USS spokesman confirmed to Financial News.
