Vitaminic, a leading European company for downloading music over the internet, has braved the torrid conditions for new equity issuance across Europe and launched its initial public offering on Italy's new market.

The Nuovo Mercato, the Borsa Italiana's market for high-growth stocks, was quick to snap its jaws, however, and nervous investors kept Vitaminic shares trading below their issue price throughout the morning.
