Vivendi slams break-up plan

Vivendi, the French media and telecoms conglomerate, has rejected a request by shareholder Sebastian Holdings to break itself up and denied that it has received a $50bn (€39bn) takeover proposal from the group.

Vivendi said today that its supervisory and management boards unanimously rejected a "co-operation request presented by a shareholder, Sebastian Holdings, aiming to dismantle the group".
