Volumes bounce back in first half

Eye-catching deals from international companies have boosted confidence

It can just about qualify as a turnaround. After a gloomy first quarter lacking in dealflow, particularly from exciting high-grade European companies, the debt markets pulled out the stops in the second quarter.

At the halfway point in the year, bond market originators and their syndicate desks have turned up the volume levels for euro and sterling debt issues and delivered plenty of eye-catching deals from well-known international companies.
