Vontobel, the Swiss bank and asset manager, has appointed Giuseppe Benelli to a new role of chief investment officer from Swiss Re, the Swiss insurer and asset manager, where he held the same post.

Benelli, who had been with Swiss Re for three years, will be responsible for investment policy and group-wide process. Benelli will also become part of the firm's group executive board.
