Several of America's biggest investment banks are advising a $1bn–plus deal to bring together two of the best-known names in high-end fashion.

Luxury retailer Michael Kors said it has reached a deal to acquire Jimmy Choo in a cash transaction, which values the UK shoemaker at £896m ($1.2bn).
