Four big Wall Street banks have topped of a list of companies praised for their transparency and ambition on climate change, but UK stockbroker Hargreaves Lansdown, the rating agency Moody’s and Japanese tech investor SoftBank finished at the wrong end of the table.

Bank of America, BNY Mellon, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley joined European banks Intesa Sanpaolo and ING at the top of the annual rankings for the quality of reporting on environmental issues and impacts, compiled by CDP. Its latest report, published on 20 January, relates to companies’ 2018 data.
