Warburg Pincus is the latest global venture capital firm to launch a mega European fund with the closing today of a $2.5bn private equity fund targeted at investments outside the US.

The fund will focus on companies at all stages of development, from venture capital start-ups to buyouts and recapitalisations. It will also look for opportunities to invest in developing countries.
