Watchdog quizzing hedge funds on hard-to-value assets

UK regulators are turning the spotlight on hedge funds and private equity houses with complex and hard-to-sell investments, to check the value put on them is beyond reproach.

At least three well-known hedge funds and one private equity house have been targeted by the Financial Conduct Authority in recent months with requests to see valuation policy documents, according to a funds adviser who has seen a number of the requests.
