Watson Wyatt abandons the field

Departure from UK local authorities gives rivals opportunities

The decision by Watson Wyatt, the investment consulting firm, to withdraw actuarial services to UK local authorities may lead to the loss of some of its investment clients.

Watson Wyatt will no longer offer actuarial advice to local authority pension schemes by the end of October. Hugh Chambers, partner at the firm, said local authority actuarial clients represented too small a part of its overall business.
