It is looking likely that the Bank of England will fall short of its 2020 gender diversity target, despite pledging to place diversity at the heart of the central bank’s cultural agenda.
At the virtual launch of the Women in Finance Charter’s annual review on 23 June, the governor of the BoE Andrew Bailey said he was disappointed by where the bank stood with regards to diversity and inclusion metrics. “I wish we had achieved our target,” he said. But added that the bank would “keep on striving to achieve our set target”.
