Weak fixed income hits Nordea's profits

Nordea's corporate and investment banking division has suffered a sharp fall in second quarter profits after a downturn in fixed-income trading.

Nordea, the Swedish bank which last week announced plans to contract out its equity research to ratings agency Standard & Poor's, has reported a second quarter profit of €86m (€106m) from corporate and institutional banking - down from €132m this time last year and €154m in the first quarter.
