The percentage of America's wealthiest individuals who are optimistic about the outlook for the stock market has more than doubled since last year, despite general pessimism about the US economy, in a trend that may bode well for the private banking divisions of Wall Street firms.
About 51% of individuals with more than $10m (€6.8m) in investable assets â known as ultra-high-net-worth individuals â said they were either much more optimistic or somewhat more optimistic about the performance of equities in 2008, according to a Harris Interactive survey from PNC Wealth Management.
