Wells Fargo banks on European real estate

US bank sees an opening to capture market share amid concerns about the strength of the UK market and ongoing eurozone worries

Wells Fargo, the largest US commercial-property lender, is pushing deeper into Europe amid worries about the strength of the UK market and as eurozone countries slide toward recession.

Some of the region's big lenders pulled out in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis and the recovery of Europe's property sector has been uneven since then. But the area has shown just enough strength to tempt US lenders and investors eager to spread their reach.
