WestAM sells Japanese equity business to Fortis

Fortis Investments, the fund management arm of the Belgo-Dutch insurer with €77bn ($98.2bn) in assets, has acquired the Japanese equity operation of WestAM, the asset management subsidiary of the German bank WestLB.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, will see the transfer of 12 staff running around €50m in Japanese equities from WestAM to Fortis.
