When it comes to sources of advice, the City’s first choice would probably not be Donald Trump. Yet whatever you think of him as a President, as a real estate developer he has done a few successful negotiations over the years.

He distilled some of that experience in his book The Art of the Deal, in which he listed two of the key steps to success as: protect your downside and maximise your options. The City should take note.
