Ah that pesky gender pay gap. You can just imagine the chief executive of a large company huffing away as he gets ready to justify why men are paid so much more. Despite his efforts to hire more women, this figure will leave him and his company looking bad.

Except it won’t. Not really. Almost all financial institutions are putting out embarrassingly bad figures, so why would any one look worse than the others? Don’t be surprised if the press starts to tire of these disclosures before long.
