On a cold Friday night last September a young woman employed on the graduate scheme at UBS made her way to a party just 15 minutes walk from the Swiss bank’s headquarters in London.
It was supposed to be a night of revelry. A month-long period of intense training had come to an end and more than 30 UBS graduates were getting together at a flat in Shoreditch to celebrate. The mood was one of excitement with people swapping stories and enjoying a drink before embarking on the next stage of their training.
