Stilwell Financial, the US asset manager, is to drop its name and reorganise under the umbrella of Janus, its best-known brand, as part of a company restructuring aimed at cutting costs.

Stilwell is to merge four of its business units under the name of Janus Capital Management by the end of the year. At the same time the firm said that it will cut 140 jobs and unveiled its new chief executive.
