White House names Cox as SEC chairman

Christopher Cox, a California Republican, was today named by the White House as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He replaces William Donaldson, who said late last night that he will quit at the end of this month. No reason was given for his departure.

Donaldson will return to the private sector.
