Takeover talks have collapsed at Whitehead Mann, the UK recruitment firm, sending the shares plunging more than a quarter.

The firm said in a statement today: "Following discussions with interested parties, no offers have been forthcoming, and no discussions relating to an offer for the company are currently taking place."
