Salim Ramji was among a handful of BlackRock insiders tipped to one day take over from Larry Fink as chief executive of the world’s largest asset manager.

Now, the former McKinsey partner, who left the New York-headquartered asset manager in January after more than a decade, has landed the top job at BlackRock’s biggest rival.
