Jes Staley is gone from Barclays, but his successor will carry on his signature strategy of betting big on the UK’s last major presence on Wall Street.

Barclays appointed CS Venkatakrishnan as chief executive on 1 November after Staley unexpectedly stepped down under pressure from regulators about how he characterised his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
