Why Elon Musk should turn to Twitter investors to help his $46bn bid

Musk said he would provide some $21bn in equity financing, but there is some uncertainty about how he will get that money

Maybe Elon Musk should turn to Twitter investors to help his $46.5bn bid for the company.

One possibility is that Musk could gain control of Twitter in a “public LBO,” or a leveraged buyout that would still allow Twitter shareholders to retain a minority stake in the company — say, 20% or 25%. The shares would remain publicly traded. Musk would then need less financing for the deal and might have to borrow less against his stake in Tesla.
