This week it emerged that Goldman Sachs it is to move the London operations of its internal hedge fund to New York. The decision was taken after partner Nick Advani, who led the team for nearly 18 years in London, decided to retire and was not related to Brexit.

The move is a rare one. Hedge funds should be able to base their staff anywhere they’ve got access to a Bloomberg terminal, but in practice they don’t.
