William Vereker, UBS’s head of corporate client solutions in Europe, otherwise known as the corporate finance unit, has just finished a year of intense change.

More than a dozen group heads were replaced in 2014 as the Swiss lender refocused its investment bank in a bid to become a more focused, less capital-intensive operation.
