Willis Towers Watson, the consultancy that advises on pensions investments worth trillions of dollars, has called for structural changes to the hedge fund industry after years of lacklustre returns.

In a report, A New Way, WTW said hedge funds still warrant inclusion in institutional portfolios but called on the alternative investment firms to be more transparent about the fees they charge and to get more creative with the products they offer.
