US insurer American International Group has named former Citigroup president and chief operating officer Robert Willumstad to its board of directors.

Fred Langhammer, former chief executive of cosmetics company Estee Lauder, is also joining AIG's board. Langhammer and Willumstad will fill two seats on the board that had been vacant, said Joe Norton, a spokesman for the insurer.
