Wirecard files for insolvency after revealing $2bn accounting hole

Battered German fintech company Wirecard AG filed for insolvency proceedings, a week after auditors found a $2bn hole in its balance sheet.

The company, which specialises in payments processing, said on 24 June it filed an application to open insolvency proceedings in the Munich district court.
