Freddie Mac appointed mortgage-industry veteran Bruce Witherell as chief operating officer in the latest top management change at the government-backed mortgage company.

Last month Freddie Mac named finance industry veteran Charles Haldeman as chief executive, succeeding interim chief executive John Koskinen.
