‘I lost 10 grand in 10 minutes’: Sports stars become traders in lockdown

The coronavirus-induced shutdown of sports grounds and teams provokes some athletes to try their hand at other highly-competitive pursuits

Like many of us, Jack Clifford had some time on his hands after his job was put on hiatus during lockdown.

But unlike many of us, the 27-year-old went from playing professional rugby to training to become a professional trader. His gruelling daily routine to be a top flanker at England rugby team Harlequins has turned instead into hours scrutinising charts and buying and selling gold, oil and currencies on a simulated trading system.
