HSBC has suffered another blow with the surprise exit of Luke Withnell, a 20 year City of London corporate finance veteran and a managing director leading the UK bank's consumer interests team.

Withnell, who joined HSBC four years ago from Hawkpoint, has acted as M&A adviser to Enterprise Inns in the UK and also worked on the takeover of Highland Distillers.
