Standard Life's days as a mutual could be numbered, following Australian-born Fred Woollard's decision to ask its owners to vote in favour at a general meeting.

Woollard is a former adviser to Danny Hill, one of Western Australia's best-known multi-millionaires. UK corporate promoter Luke Johnson has also worked for Hill in the past.
