Stock exchanges report 21% women on boards as ESG drives diversity targets

Exchanges commit themselves to ESG initiatives, though much work is still to be done

While the overall percentage of women working at exchanges sat around 42%, only 32% of senior management were female, this shrank to 21% at the board level

Gender equality among board roles at the stock exchange firms that underpin financial markets remains low, despite the industry's commitment to ESG goals, which require fair gender representation among their boards.

In a survey conducted by the World Federation of Exchanges, 42 out of 49 exchanges have made a formal commitment to sustainability, but only 37% of exchanges indicated they have targets for female representation in the workplace.
