An influential proxy advisory firm has thrown its support behind the chairman of the London Stock Exchange, who is facing calls from the prominent activist investor Sir Chris Hohn to stand down with immediate effect.

Institutional Shareholder Services, the world's largest adviser to investors on corporate governance matters, said in a statement today that LSE shareholders should vote against proposals to remove Donald Brydon from his position at an extraordinary general meeting on December 19.
