Quantum computing has the potential to change the finance industry by creating instantaneous communications, regardless of distance and without national regulatory restrictions, according to the former head of the London Stock Exchange Group.

Xavier Rolet addressed a room full of senior executives from exchanges, trading firms and financial technology companies during Financial News’s Excellence in Trading & Tech Awards on 6 June. He told them "quantum is upon us" and challenged them to take advantage of it, saying: "This is on you."
