A successful launch for Xstrata, the Swiss mining company, on the London Stock Exchange, may mark the start of a gentle improvement in the UK initial public offering market.
A banker close to the deal said: "It's trading very well, we're very well covered and it's a very high-quality book, including institutional investors from Switzerland, the UK and the US."
