Karen Young, former head of Thomson Financial's Information Systems Group, has joined Communicating, a London systems developer, as chief operating officer. Her role will combine overseeing the company's commercial activities and its customer-driven products. Young also joins the Communicating board.

Young says: 'Few companies embrace the research and development side of the business as seriously as Communicating. It is converting market requirements back into technology and products that show genuine innovation.'
