Alternatives body stands by fee transparency proposals

The industry body that is in charge of setting standards for hedge funds and private equity firms has hit back at claims its efforts to tackle hidden costs do not go far enough.

The Standards Board for Alternative Investments today launched its new standardised total expense ratio (STER) for alternatives funds. The aim is to provide investors with a single figure combining the expenses and management fees incurred by a fund, meaning that the costs of different funds can be compared for the first time.
