The president and chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs has outlined the ways in which the Wall Street bank will protect its return on equity in an age of reduced leverage.

Gary Cohn was speaking at the Sanford C Bernstein 2012 Annual Strategic Decisions Conference in New York, yesterday, where he said Goldman Sachs has a leverage ratio of 13, less than half the peak level before the financial crisis.
