Baroness Helena Morrissey has stepped down as chair of online investment platform AJ Bell after less than a year in the role.

Her departure comes after talks with the Financial Conduct Authority over the board role for outgoing chief executive Andy Bell, who announced in June he would step down from the helm of the firm he founded 27 years ago and which has grown to become one of the UK's largest investment platforms. He had intended to remain on the board as a non-executive deputy chair.
