The Treasury’s former top civil servant Sir Tom Scholar is set to join Nomura as Europe chair.

Scholar was fired as Treasury permanent secretary on the first day of Liz Truss's tenure as Prime Minister as she looked to force through a radical shake-up of how financial services were governed and tear down the "orthodoxy" holding back the Treasury. He received £335,000 in severance.
