The fund research arm of analytics firm S&P Capital IQ has launched a ratings system for passive funds, as investors increasingly call for a bond-style ratings system for ETFs.

The system is the latest in what the head of ETF structuring at Deutsche Bank's db X-trackers told Financial News was a "race to the moon" among research firms to develop the best ratings methodology.
